Today I walked to the Yonge and Sheppard area Running Room. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend them. I met Trevor, a very knowledgable, patient, and customer focused sales person. I decided the Sportline 340 Step and Distance Pedometer would work for me. I had not planned on it, but I bought shoes as well. What I liked about the Running Room was the fact that Trevor understood not only the types of shoes available, but he was able to assess my foot type, and gait and was able to make an appropriate footwear choice for me.. What Trevor didn’t know was that I am a trained physiotherapist, his assessment of my foot type and gait were bang on. Like Cinderella the shoe fit beautifully. I left my old shoes to be donated by the Running Room and wore the new shoes home.
Why a Pedometer?
This will be my personal motivator or trainer for the time being. I have also enrolled in a free program 10000steps.org.au. This site is easy to read and follow. ultimately the goal is not only to see if I can achieve 10000steps daily, but is this activity sustainable? Will it become a lifestyle habit? Only time will tell. Well I’ve got to run I mean walk, my oldest daughter is excited about the pedometer and wants to try it out tonight. Maybe this will become a family thing.
Tomorrow I will…….Assess whether an iphone app is comparable to my pedometer

What a great story. My husband and I have just started walking. I will join the 10,000 steps site now too!
Thanks
Jess
